What does it mean to have Integrity? How do we as martial artists develop this trait?
Let's define it. Integrity means to have a firm consistency to a set code of values and principles. Our actions, expectations and outcome depend on how honest we are at keeping our word and speaking the truth.
Integrity is a valuable character trait and life skill one must work hard at to achieve. It is the basis of both trust and respect. These traits are dependent upon one another and help to build strong relationships with peers, family, and the community we live in.
One of the most important things martial arts student of any age can learn is that of integrity. Whether your definition of integrity is "Always telling the truth." or "living by a moral code that guides every thought and action'", study of the martial arts can help a student develop this life skill to it's fullest.
"DO WHAT YOU SAY YOU'RE GOING TO DO" - Commit to the goals that you set and work hard to achieve them. You will be a great example and a leader to those on their path to developing these traits.
Always remember: The value of hard work will NEVER go unnoticed!
